The saliva test is as reliable as a nasal or nasopharyngeal swab and is covered by the Federal Office of Public Health.
Yes, this PCR test is recognised for travel. In addition to notification via SMS and the result via email, a QR code for the Swiss COVID certificate is also included.
Order the test in good time in advance and make sure that you post the saliva sample at your post office in good time before the closing date for A letter post. You will usually receive the result on the same day as the sample arrives at the laboratory, i.e. the day after it is sent.
With the findings (positive or negative) you will also receive a COVID certificate (QR code to scan).
The COVID certificate for a PCR test is valid for 72 hours from the exact time of collection of the saliva sample. Please note that depending on the destination and the travel route, shorter periods may apply when travelling (e.g. only 48 hours).
A positive result means that you are infected with the coronavirus and must behave according to the instructions of the authorities (quarantine, etc.).
A negative result means that you were most probably not infected with the coronavirus at the time the sample was taken. The normal protection and hygiene measures of the authorities must still be observed.
The laboratory is obliged to report positive findings to the respective cantonal medical service and the FOPH within 2 hours in each case.
In the event of a positive test result, follow the FOPH's instructions for isolation. The competent cantonal authority will contact you. Together, you will determine which persons have been in contact with you. These may have to go into quarantine; quarantine means staying at home and having no personal contact with other people.
The test kits are valid for at least 1 year. So you can easily buy a stock and benefit from quantity discounts, or store individual tests at home.
The antibody test shows whether a person has come into contact with the virus and whether antibodies have been formed. The test can be used to detect asymptomatic disease or to determine whether antibodies have been produced after vaccination. The antibody test does NOT qualify for the Swiss COVID certificate.
The COVID-19 antibody check is in no way intended for the acute diagnosis of ill persons and does not replace diagnosis by PCR, since antibodies are only detectable approx. 2 weeks after the onset of symptoms and approx. 4 weeks after infection. The test also does not allow a statement on infectivity.
Antibodies are proteins that help fight off infections and can provide protection against getting the disease again (immunity). Antibodies are disease-specific. For example, measles antibodies protect you from getting measles if you are exposed to the virus again, but they do not protect you from getting mumps if you are exposed to mumps.
Unless otherwise stated, no recovery vouchers are generated for the health insurance fund.
Our offer is only valid for customers within Switzerland and the Principality of Liechstenstein. If the samples are sent back across the country borders to the medical laboratory in Switzerland, there could be unavoidable delays in delivery, which would not be in the interests of rapid COVID-19 diagnostics. In addition, we might not be able to meet our quality standards.
The new coronavirus is mainly transmitted during close and prolonged contact:
When keeping less than 2 metres away from an infected person
Transmission through droplets: If the sick person sneezes or coughs, the viruses can get directly onto the mucous membranes of the nose, mouth or eyes of other people
Transmission via the hands: Contagious droplets get onto the hands when coughing or sneezing
Or you touch a surface that has viruses on it. They get into the mouth, nose or eyes when you touch them
